How sweet it is….

We have some friends who have been going through a rather rough time….year after year after year. Just when things seem to be pointing in the right direction and things are settling for their whole family, something comes at them and swings them in circles.

When we saw them a few weeks ago, it seemed that they were at a breaking point. They thought they were at a point of resolution, only to be in chaos again. But, they knew their God would provide and their God would guide, so they trusted Him….even with so many questions.

Here we are a few weeks later, and it has been absolutely humbling to watch from afar how our Heavenly Father has bestowed gift after gift upon them. Gifts they didn’t even know to ask for, as it was so out of reach. Gifts that were truly the impossible.  Gifts that I think maybe, years ago, they might have asked for….maybe….but now after so many years of the unexpected, they are simply content to make it to the next crossroads intact.

Being so close to the real story, the only thing I can do is thank the Lord with them. It’s funny – you hear people say how when someone else gets something, especially unexpected – that they are jealous or have a moment of ‘what about me?’ And, I’ll admit, I’ve been there before. With these friends, though, there is no jealousy, but pure joy, pure gratefulness to our Lord, and a pure peace that you know only He can provide. Truly, they’ve been on an advenuture – rocky most of the time, but for this present moment, they are “soaring on wings like eagles….”

“…those who hope in the LORD
will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint.”

Isaiah 40:31
